Blackcap's band plays your chords in any of 85 styles, from rock and blues to bossa nova, reggae and lo-fi. It plays softer in a verse and harder in a chorus, fills into each new part, and finishes the song properly.

  1. In Just Play: tap Add a Band. Choose a Feel (a genre, then a style), a key and chords, and press Play.
  2. In a song: a song made in Quick Song comes with a band, and Band (under the key on the Song screen) changes it. The band plays your chart, part by part, in your song's key — no need to tell it the chords.
  3. Slow, Medium and Fast set the tempo the style is usually played at.
  4. How Hard It Plays: Light, Medium or Full. In a song, each part has its own (verses Medium, choruses Full to start with).
  5. Who's in the Band: swap any player's sound, or pick None to leave a part out and play it yourself. Funk, soul, big band, ska and Latin feels bring a horn section — trumpet, sax and trombone — under Pad.
  6. Band Mix: a fader for each player — bring the drums up, or the bass down under your playing. Each starts at the band's own level.
  7. Change a chord in your song and the band follows a few seconds later ("Updating the band…"). It's in your exported song like any other track, and it's in Song → Mix as Band.
  8. Two chords in a bar? The band changes where the second one comes in. A part with its own tempo? The band plays it at that tempo.
  9. Export Stems gives the band's players as their own files (Band Drums, Band Bass and so on), to mix in another app.
