Many apps on the App Store work inside other music apps as plug-ins (called Audio Unit extensions, or AUv3): amp simulators, guitar pedals, vocal processors, synths and drum machines. Install one, open it once, and it shows up in Blackcap.
- Amp sims and pedals on a recorded track: Record → the track → Plug-ins → Add a Plug-in. They run before Blackcap's own effects, and Hear Yourself plays through them too.
- Effects on an instrument (drums, synth…): that screen's Effects → Plug-ins.
- A synth or drum machine app as an instrument: Keys → Sound → Plug-in Instrument…, then play it from the keys, the piano roll or a MIDI keyboard.
- MIDI effects (an arpeggiator, a chord maker, a note randomiser): Keys → MIDI Effects → Add a MIDI Effect. Whatever you play goes through them before the sound — up to four, in order.
- Using an amp sim plug-in? Switch Blackcap's own Amp off on that track (or set its Cabinet to No Cabinet if the plug-in has its own).
