While anything but Keys records, a panel slides up from the bottom: a red RECORDING with the time, your sound drawing itself as you play, how well it's coming in, a Music slider and a big Stop. You always know it's recording.
- On the Record screen, pick what you're recording. Its page asks only for what you need first: Recording from (the microphone or what's plugged in), Hear Yourself, and for a guitar or bass its Amp and Cabinet and any plug-ins.
- Music while you record turns the song down (or off) just for you while you record — the song itself isn't changed. You can move it on the recording panel too, as you play.
- Tap the big record button. It counts you in first — the beats of a bar, big on the screen (or 3, 2, 1 when nothing's playing along) — then the song plays and you play along; tap Stop on the panel when you're done.
- The strip on the panel is your whole song, part by part: a red bar grows where you're recording, so you can see just where the take sits ("Recording into Chorus, bar 3"). Takes already on the track show underneath.
- Once there's a take, the page shows Finish the Sound: its volume, where it sits left to right, its effects and plug-ins.
- Solo hears just that track; Mute turns it off for now.
- Up to 32 recordings fit in every song.
