A song doesn't need to be complicated to be good. Most songs you love are a beat, a few chords, a bass line, a melody and a chorus that comes back. Blackcap can do each of those for you as a starting point — then you make it yours.
- Start the Song Guide (More → Guide Me Through a Song, or Songs → New Song → Guided Song). It walks you through every step below, and can do any of them for you.
- Pick a vibe — 27 styles in families, from Pop & Rock and Hip-Hop & Beats to Soul, Funk & R&B, Jazz & Blues and Folk & Country. It sets a tempo, a drum kit and a feel that go together.
- Make a beat on the Beat screen: tap squares to add hits — or tap a drum's name to fill its row in one go ("On 2 and 4" for the snare). Kick on 1 and 3, snare on 2 and 4 is a classic start.
- Choose chords on the Song screen. Four chords that repeat is plenty — most hits use exactly that.
- Add a bass line on Keys (or let the guide write one that follows your chords).
- Hum or sing over it. When a few words or notes stick, that's your hook — put it in the chorus.
- Arrange: intro, verse, chorus, verse, chorus, outro. The Timeline shows the whole song.
- Mix a little: a touch of Room on the chords, the drums a bit louder than you think.
- Tap Finish & Share (on the Song page, or in More) and send it to someone.
