You know the feeling you want, even if you don't know what makes it. Tap A little help (the ✦) and say it in a word. Blackcap suggests a real change to try, explains what it does and why it works, and shows you how you'd do it yourself — so next time, you can.

  1. Find ✦ A little help on the Beat page, a melody's or bass line's page, the Chords page, your voice's page, and on a piece's card on the song map.
  2. Pick a feeling: for a melody, Fuller, Dreamier, More epic, More nostalgic or Simpler; for chords, Brighter, Sadder, More tension and more; for a beat, Bigger, More laid back, More driving…
  3. Read the idea: What we'll do, Why it works (the music theory, in plain words), and Do it yourself.
  4. Try it in the part you've chosen: it plays round and round so you can hear it. Keep it, Take it back, or ask for Another idea — or go back for A different feeling.
  5. An idea that adds something — a harmony, the melody doubled an octave below — goes on its own layer. Then choose where it plays.
